NEBRASKA ASSOCIATION OF REGULAR BAPTIST CHURCHES
Resolution on Our Current Financial Crisis
WHEREAS our nation is experiencing turbulent financial times resulting in the depletion of savings, the loss of
equity in homes, the collapse of many banks and financial institutions, the uncertain future of many industries,
and the loss of jobs; and
The current financial climate has forced some to reevaluate their principles of even abandon them, choosing to
take extreme measures that they would not otherwise consider; and
Although the Bible may not answer specific financial questions, it does very clearly address general financial
principles which are applicable in any age, especially during times of economic challenges;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the messengers of the churches in fellowship with the Nebraska
Association of Regular Baptist Churches, meeting for ur Spring Conference at Grace Baptist Church in Omaha,
Nebraska, April 2-4, 2009, commit ourselves to be faithful financial stewards according to eternal Biblical
principles.
We re-affirm the sound financial wisdom that God has revealed to us in His Holy Scriptures: the wisdom of
avoiding unnecessary debt (Proverbs 22:7), rejecting the materialism and greed of our culture (I Timothy 6:10),
tithing consistently to the Lord (1 Corinthians 16:2; II Corinthians 9:6-7), cultivating an attitude of contentment
(1 Timothy 6:6-9), and ultimately trusting God rather than riches (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
We condemn the sinful choices of the world which led to such a financial collapse: materialism, greed, risky
borrowing, reckless spending, and dishonest business practices.
We further resolve to model Biblical stewardship in a way that glorifies our Heavenly Father. We commit to
live frugally and save during prosperous times, share generously during difficult times, tithe faithfully at all
times, always trusting in the loving provision our Almighty God.
